Florence Etienne-Jackson

Florence is a birth and postnatal doula, and co-owner of Nurturing Birth providing doula preparation courses across the UK, Europe and the Middle East with a mentoring programme for new and experienced doulas, as well as the international Nurturing Birth Directory to help parents find the right birth or postnatal doula.


Florence has trained as an antenatal teacher with 2 different organisations offering a range of perspectives about birth and parenting preparation. This combined with her doula experience keeps her well informed and realistic when facilitating courses, She is a Breastfeeding Buddy having undertaken various breastfeeding support programmes.

After completing an honours degree in childhood studies as a mature student she worked for 10 years in a Sure Start programme prior to becoming a doula, she has plenty of experience working with midwives, health visitors, Her valuable experience of working in partnership with parents to be and the NHS has proved very useful when advocating women’s choices in childbirth and building and maintaining positive relationship with the medical team.


Florence is also very involved in her local Maternity Voice Partnership working on improving maternity experiences for families based in and around Worcestershire.

Kat Galbraith

Kat is a birth and postnatal doula, having previously been an EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) Practitioner before answering the call to become a doula. She is passionate about informed decision making, and ensuring that parents have access to up to date evidence-based information from which they can make decisions about their care during pregnancy and birth. As a natural people person, she is quick to put people at ease and enjoys connecting with people from all walks of life and bringing them together,


Kat is a Born to Carry peer supporter, and co-facilitates a local Positive Birth Movement group as well as being actively involved in her local Maternity Voices Partnership. She is currently studying British Sign Language.

A mother of three and grandparent twice over,  she lives on the Worcestershire/Birmingham border with her partner, daughter, dog and a Greek cat.


When she is not working she can usually be found walking the dog (camera in hand - she's a keen photographer), curled up with a good book, doing crafts, learning Greek, or playing violin with a local LGBTQI+ community orchestra (Birmingham Gay Symphony Orchestra) of which she is chairperson and leader.
